SUNROOM MAKEOVER

Thursday, August 20, 2015

A little over a year ago, Shawn and I purchased our very first home in this little beach town on Cape Cod.  We both love the Cape, and have always wanted to own a home here.  We both also love our house, but it is a continually evolving project (all homeowners understand).  Although the house was pretty much turnkey, we quickly decided to un-turn they key and renovate basically the whole house.  With much help from both of our parents, our house is slowly becoming our dream home.  I am having so much fun decorating (and re-decorating) our home, and putting my little coastal, country touch on everything.

Starting with the sunroom, which has easily become my favorite room in the house.  Funny how a room that seemed so tired and dark has turned into such a bright and cheery little nook.  Love enjoying my morning coffee in here.

PWD

What's PWD, you ask?  Post-Wedding Depression y'all.  I am pursuing blogging again, with a bit of a new direction and with a new last name.  Shawn and I are finally married! Our wedding was, without question, the greatest day of our lives.  It is so hard to put into words, but we were just so overjoyed with love and happiness, being surrounded by all of our friends and family.  I didn't stop smiling for about two weeks. There is so much that goes into planning a wedding, it pretty much consumed our lives for the past 6 months or so.  It is over with the blink of an eye, but then at least we had the honeymoon to look forward to. Two full weeks in Paradise... now over.  Womp womp.  Well anyway, that depression is inspiring my post today.  Shawn and I spent two amazing weeks in Hawaii, and I am feeling the Aloha lifestyle today.  Here are a few items that I feel can easily transition into Fa........ I can't bring myself to say it yet.  Of course I had to include the Aloha Necklace... I was eyeing that guy every time that we passed a Maui Divers Jewelry shop! Take me back....

XO,
Janine

Weekend Things

Thursday, August 22, 2013

Last Friday night, Shawn and I spent the evening at Westport Rivers Winery for their Sunset Music Series.  The weather couldn't have been any more perfect -- it was such a great night for an outdoor concert, a picnic and some great wine.  Not to mention, we had a beautiful view of the sunset.  I highly recommend it!  We're both looking forward to going back again, hopefully before the season ends!  I just wish that I knew this place existed a long time ago... I guess that's another reason why living in New England can be so special.  I make sure to count my blessings every day.

Westport Rivers Sunset Music Series

Thursday, August 15, 2013

It's been a busy summer for Janine, Beau & I.  It feels like we've had something planned for all of our "free time".  Not complaining at all, it's been a fun summer and we're not looking forward to the end.  Tomorrow night, we'll be attending the Westport Winery's Sunset Music Series in Westport, MA.  We're really excited to be able to go, sip some local wine, beer and grab some local eats, while listening to the music of Josh Pereira.  The event was featured by the Herald News back in June and this year began on June 21st and runs to September 14th.  We'll make sure to post some pictures of the event.

Cheers,
Shawn

Cape Cod's Top Dog

Monday, July 8, 2013

Agway of Cape Cod, a family owned and operated go-to store for all home, garden, farm, and pet needs, is running a Top Dog of Cape Cod photo contest.  Of course, we entered Beau.

Check out the details here, and get your Cape dog entered! Grand prize winner gets a year's supply of Blue Buffalo Dog Food -- that would save us about $1,500 if Beau were to win!

Beau, or as we call him, "Beau-Beau", is Cape Cod born and bred!  He loves everything about the Cape: the water, the dock, the sand, the salt marsh -- all of it.  He's the most energetic, loving, and loyal Golden Retriever, and one of the Cape's very own Beechwood Goldens out of Barnstable.

When I was initially diagnosed with Type I Diabetes two years ago, it prompted my decision to get a puppy.  I knew that puppy had to be a Golden Retriever!  The temperament of a Golden is like no other: reliable, friendly, intelligent, trustworthy and kind.  I love that I have my very own comfort dog in Beau!

Now, I cannot imagine life without him, and he brings a smile to my face every day.  Beau loves to travel all over the Cape and do Cape things.  He can be seen most weekends with a bright green tennis ball in his mouth, swimming at Monomoscoy Island in Mashpee, getting an ice cream at the famous Kool Kone in Wareham, taking day trips around the Cape, walking along the Canal, and even taking in a Cape Cod Baseball League game now and then.

There is no place like Cape Cod, and there is no dog on the Cape like Beau!

Traveling This Summer...Looking for Something To Do?

Monday, May 27, 2013

It's been a while since either myself or Janine have posted on the blog.  Our apologies.  Janine and I just returned home from a desert vaca under the hot Arizona sun.  We used Yelp and TripAdvisor a lot while we were away.  A more detailed post on the trip is in the works.  Both applications worked great in most cases.  However, I thought I'd share some other application options available which were featured on the GISuser Blog today.  The direct link is below.  Give it a try on your next trip!

Hot Mobile Apps to Maximize Fun this Summer with Your Smartphone and iPad

Last, and certainly most important, Happy Memorial Day to all and THANK YOU to all the men and women who have served and continue to serve our great nation!
